Default U.N. tanks at Lebanon-Israel border

U.N. troops sent tanks and armor Thursday to a tense area along the frontier with Israel to try to determine whether an Israeli bulldozer crossed into Lebanon, sparking the first shootout since last summer's Hezbollah Israel war.

The brief exchange of fire Wednesday night was the first involving Lebanese troops and the Israelis since the Lebanese army deployed in September to southern Lebanon to work alongside international peacekeepers.

Hezbollah's idea of a prisoner exchange...

Israeli cabinet ready to swap prisoners for kidnapped soldiers
Saturday 28th June, 2008 - Nearly two years after they were kidnapped to Lebanon, the Israeli government is expected to approve Sunday the exchange deal with Hezbollah for the return of captured Israeli soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev.
Quote:
In a poll conducted by Ynet, 18 out of 25 cabinet members said they would vote in favor of the deal to return Goldwasser and Regev in exchange for terrorist Samir Kuntar, four Hezbollah members imprisoned in Israel and the remains of additional members. Contrary to previous reports, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert intends to bring the deal with the Hezbollah for a vote during the cabinet meeting. Olmert’s office refused to report his stance, explaining that he will be presenting it before the ministers.

Although no minister has declared his or her support of the deal, it seems that a majority will be voting in its favor. Five of the ministers are still debating the issue or waiting to hear more information before making their decision. Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On have yet to disclose their positions.

According to Ynet’s poll, all Labor Party ministers are in favor of the deal, namely Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, Agriculture Minister Shalom Simhon, Social Affairs Minister Isaac Herzog, Education Minister Yuli Tamir, Minister Without Portfolio Ami Ayalon and Minister of Science Culture and Sport Raleb Majadale.

Israeli soldiers captured by Hezbollah are dead
Sunday 29th June, 2008 - israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Sunday confirmed abducted soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser are dead.
Quote:
The two were captured by Hezbollah two years ago in an incident which sparked the Lebanon War. The bombshell dropped by Olmert came at the outset of a cabinet meeting which decided to go ahead with a prisoner swap.

Military and defense officials urged the government not to proceed with the swap as they believed it would lead to more abductions. Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin and Mossad chief Meir Dagan were both in attendance at the cabinet meeting.

Opening the cabinet meeting on Sunday, the Israeli prime minister said he had deliberated 'deeply' on the proposed deal. 'There is no doubt that today's discussion has special weight and is exceptionally sensitive in terms of its national and moral implications,' he said, adding, 'My conclusions are not free of doubts and dilemmas.'

When asked about the status of missing UN peacekeepers abducted by Israel, the arrogant little terrorist state flipped off the US. Our media shudders and recoils, afraid to broach the subject of Israel's many crimes and attrocities.

I have some questions about Iarael:
>How many illegal "Jewish Settlements" are encroaching on sovereign soil in Lebanon?
>How many Lebanese have been murdered, kidnapped, raped or assassinated by Israeli "Death Squads" and other Jewish criminals protected by the Zionist State?
>WHERE is the money stolen from Palestinian banks by Jewish Stormtroopers toting American M-16s?
>How much money has Israel stolen from Palestinian banks?
>What happened to the Jewish officer who murdered a little Palestinian girl in cold blood to make sure she was dead after a Jewish soldier gunned her down?
>Why do we allow the Jewish State to give money to our elected officials and candidates, the very same people who turn around and vote to give billions of Taxpayer dollars to Israel?
>Why do we allow Israel to buy control of media giants, CNN, AOL Time Warner, and others?
>Why do we put American troops in the Middle East to protect Israel when Israel is clearly and undeniably the aggressor?

Devil's bargain...

Israel-Hezbollah Prisoner Deal May Work to Hamas' Advantage
June 30, 2008 - Hamas views an upcoming Israeli-Hezbollah prisoner swap as a precedent-setting deal that could spring even more Palestinian terrorists out of Israeli jails, a wire report said on Monday.
Quote:
The Israeli cabinet voted this past weekend in favor of a German-mediated deal, which will send two kidnapped Israeli soldiers -- or their bodies -- back to Israel. Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev were abducted in a cross-border attack two years ago, and the Israeli government has said it doubts they are still alive. In exchange, Israel has agreed to release four Hezbollah fighters, dozens of bodies of infiltrators, and Samir Kuntar, a Lebanese terrorist who is serving four life sentences for his part in the 1979 terror attack in northern Israel that killed an Israeli man, his two daughters and a policemen. The exchange is expected to take place within 10 days, reports have said.

Israeli officials debated the contentious issue for six hours before voting. Israeli army chief Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi favored the swap, while the head of the Mossad, Meir Dagan, and Shin Bet Israel Security Agency head Yuval Diskin were opposed to the deal. They argued that releasing Kuntar would forfeit Israel's chances of ever finding out what happened to missing Israeli airman Ron Arad, who was captured in Lebanon in 1986.

Opposition Knesset member Yuval Steinitz warned last week that the deal would have negative repercussions in the case of a third Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, who was abducted two years ago -- just two weeks before Goldwasser and Regev were taken -- in a cross-border attack from Gaza. Shalit is believed to be alive. Following the deal with Hezbollah, Hamas will have no incentive to keep Shalit alive, Steinitz said. Israel currently is negotiating with Hamas -- through Egyptian mediators -- for Shalit's release.
