Default sciencetology?

There has been a lot of buzz about this religion in Hollywood. It seems to be a really popular religion that gets a lot of flak from nay-sayers. I'm wondering, is anybody one? If not.. what do you think about it? I don't know enough to judge yet.

Scientology has always struck me as a joke. The fact that someone from modern times just openly decided to create a religion doesn't seem to me like it can compete with the major religions of the world.

What is it about anyway? I never really understood it, seems like some sort of Elitist function, what do you think?

I red a text about it few days ago. I definitly don't like them.
They get members in via a very bad method, and becoming full member of it already costs over 10 000 euro (13k $ or so), and some ex-members said it cost them up to 500k $ ... it is really incredible.

The founder of scientology, Ron Hubbard (died in 1986 or so), wanted to get control over the world in fact. This is done by Scientology: they acquire rich, well-known or very smart members, and use them.

I don't intend to disrespect any Scientologists, but from what I've read it comes as a complete surprise to me that anyone would actually believe the doctrine. It's extremely far-fetched, especially coming from a science fiction author with no real religious background.

All ex-scientologists are extremely negative about it, if they talk about it (most don't!). Though, i know they are ex-members, and if you're a ex-member of it, you're mostly more negative about it, and not objective.

Why? Because those lost all their money/power? Not of use anymore? It's a cult!

I have no idea why they do so ... I only know they do complaint about it.
I guess it's not due to the money they lost, overall it are very rich people who complain, and 500k$ is for these people not always extremely much

if they lost power? I don't think so ...
I think they're most furious due to the fact that Scientology Church, well, "striked them" (they say)

I've heard that scientology is very serious when it comes to forcing members to remain loyal and obedient to the doctrine and the practices that are central to the religion. It's a little worrying.

If I may the article in my book French, there are over 200,000 scientologists ... it's not a huge religion, though, it is a big religion! 200,000 people is quite a lot

Interestingly enough, the organization quotes itself as having 8 million members, but the actual numbers are hard to know because that quantity refers to all those who have ever participated in any Scientology-related therapy or event.

Even 8 million members?? Oh my god ... this is really amazing ..
Though, this quantity could explain why some countries (I believe also the USA, and Australia, the home-country of Scientology) acknowledge Scientology as a religion.

The founder of Scientology, Hubbard, once said that the easiest and fastest way to become rich was to create a religion....and this was well before he came up with scientology. That along with how much money it costs just to be a memeber and keep in good with the "church" has to make people think twice about this "religion"....

It takes a little more than that lol. You can't just think up a religion and think it's gonna make you rich, pretty selfish reasons to start one anyway.

To me it is a form of mind control. How the movement has enlisted Celebrities to give it a public face is scary. Tom Cruise Even in Hollywood they have a HUGE castle of a place where they try to get young actors to join the hype.

Yes. I stated that it's probably some kind of senseless culture, I still don't comprehend its meaning.

Everyone is free to choose his/her religion, and I'll not go off that opinion, but I think Scientology is a bit too much ... "senseless" I agree with that !
