Default Own or starting up a small business?

Just wondering if anyone here own or is thinking about starting up a small business. I'd love to hear some stories / ideas.

I have thought about openning up a gym or gaming cafe in the past, but I never got far enought to develop a real business model.

A real business? Nothing for me yet, though, I am learning for it
I've recently set up a small internet business -still unreleased though- with a friend, and maybe that might become a business later on.

Hey Mike! Is this your first time starting a business? You might want to check out SCORE.org. They have retired execs that volunteer their time and experience to help you get your business going successfully, and it's free!

I was searching for a small business with very low start-up costs and I stumbled on a home-based business. I'm not sure if that sounds like something you're interested in, but let me know.

In my business I started with just $150, and I have made that back plus more. go to MyOrangeCD.com/agnelsie and request a FREE CD that will help you in your research for a business.

We've had several internet cafes open up within the past couple years and they all have already closed up shop. I'm kind of surprised since I would have thought something like that would definitely take off.

My mom used to have her own court reporting business over ten years ago. She said that it was to much working hunting people down in order to get the money that she was owed. I am in the process of trying to start a Limited Partnership in New Jersey so I might be able to tell you my experiance once everything is in place.

I've been thinking about the possibility. I'm still only young but it is something I am looking at as a future career. In the mean time I guess you can still call websites as small businesses if they are making money.

I currently do not own a small business but I have thought about starting on....although I haven't as of yet, because there is so much work involved in researching and planning. If you are going to start a business there is so much work involved in getting everything laid out (the whole business plan thing) and everything so that you don't run into issues later.

What kind of stories would you like?

I am currently in my second business (closed the first with a profit after 4 years, but the market had changed. I have since started a printing company (very small), and an online news service. The only news service is the only one that so far hasn’t been productive. But then, my goals are simpler than some.

My primary business is a computer consulting company, which went into business in 2000.

If you are thinking of starting a business, make sure you have the funds required. And if you are dropping your regular job, make SURE you include funds for living on that list of required funds. This is one of the most common mistakes made by entrepreneurs-- a horrifying mistake.

I did want to open a small coffee shop but the amount needed to open it is quite big. I need to save more money from my job to make this dream a reality.

I would urge you to try and save that money. Just be very careful in how much you need... and I would add at least 10% to it

Working for yourself... is a life changing expirence.
