Default Deathly Hallows to be Split into two

The seventh movie in the Harry Potter series: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is going to be split into two parts. I think this is a really good way for the whole book to be put into the movie. In the past they weren't able to put every bit of the books into the films, but they don't want to leave any part of Deathly Hallows out of this one.

The book was pretty amazing so I am expecting a great movie. The first part is supposed to be released in November of 2010 with the second one following in May of 2011.

While I'm sure that was part of the reason, it's also a way to make a whole lot more money. When the movie is split, then it's guaranteed the same audience will pay twice for it, thus gaining twice the revenue. It's a marketing dream.

That is true they will definitely make a lot of money off of the two movies. What they should do, is make both of the movies but release them together as a double feature. That way they can watch the first part, have an intermission, and then watch the second part, and still only pay the one price for the film. I'm sure they like the option where they earn more money though.

That would be cool, but unfortunately they don't really do too many double features anymore. People don't have the patience to sit through four or five hours like the old days when Saturday at the Matinee literally meant all day.

Not only that, but if you wait for a year, it drums up incredible amount of interest. Pirates of the Caribbean did this with great success, Back to the Future not so much. Of course, Harry Potter is a unique case since no one will be waiting for what happens, since they have the book.

They must be going to film both parts at the same time though, as the Potter kids are getting a bid old for the movies if they wait too long.

It is good that splitting the story in two parts would cover a lot more stories from the book but I think it is a ploy to force people to watch the same movie twice to earn big bucks.
