Blogs anyone?
I have a blog that I just starting posting to on Blogger.com but I have had several problems with the site being bogged down and running slow. I am interested in getting my own domain name and thus eventually deleting my old Blogger blog. The one thing I like about Blogger is the fact that it is very easy to post to, change up your template, etc. I am a little bit intimidated by starting all over from scratch...I'm not an html wiz or anything like that. Any insight?

Blogs are really popular these days, one of the reasons is that everybody can make and manage a blog, people dont need to be an expert html or php coder to create a nice blog

I've always wanted to start my own blog, but my writing skills are really bad
Although I read many blogs, and I always put notes on the way people write, but I've never been able to express myself well enough

Wordpress is an excellent program, and many hosts offer it to download at the click of a button. Additionally there are many free templates, and plugins available for free. Its more imprtant as a blogger to have something to say, than no any html. An easy template host I have used is quick blog from godaddy. To start its often best to have a blog in a particular niche, or about something you know well.

If you succeed in uploading and installing wordpress, it's almost as easy as blogger itself
I recommend you to read a guide to install wordpress somewhere on the internet; google offers enough results for the search
Let us know if you succeeded!

i can install it if your having trouble with it.
i am considering getting a blog, but whenever i look at templates, theyre either very dull, corny or have one good logo, before going onto a rubbish design.
the only blog template ive really ever liked was for a virtually unknown cms, which was quite annoying.
if anyone can tell me a good pay or free blog template site, ill be very pleased.

I was going to suggest Wordpress as well. They have a whole slew of themes to choose from. It's easy to switch back and forth with your mood. LOL

Thank you everyone for all of your advice. I think I will check out wordpress. It looks like that might be the easiest platform for me to use since I'm not too html savvy.

I can vouch for Wordpress as well. It's very easy to learn how to use and, as an ex-blogger myself, it has lots of user friendly templates and modules you can add to it. You won't be disappointed.

All that being said, it is a little strange you say that blogger is running slow. I mean, Google has the most computing power of any organisation in the world, i've absolutely never experienced any semblence of lag when using any one of their products.

People write blogs to be read by "an audience" so perhaps MySpace, Gather or plain vanilla Hi5 would be enough for you... and you'd likely get attention from those particular "gated audiences", which might turn out to be enough.
Of course, if you're looking to turn into a pro-blogger, at some point down the line, immediately switch to WordPress and add all the bells and whistles you like to make it look like a million bucks.
It's entirely up to you to learn how to blog with WordPress hosted in your own account but hey, if you're not the tech type, Blogger really provides you with an awesome interface.
Keep us posted on your final choice!

Since you are planning to get a new service, I recommend wordpress. With this you can import your blogger posts. Yes it is possible.
Wordpress seems to be the best standalone choice. Its free, fast, small, and extremely versatile.
Id seriously recommend you to use it

Blogs are the way to go especially if you are new and for people who don't know how to build websites.

You can use CMSes like Wordpress, Drupal or Joomla. Ther are many more CMSes= Content Management System. Only you need is to have a good host with php and mysql support. The rest is you need to install it.

Erin. Its very much possible to import the blogger blog into wordpress.
Wordpress is possibly the best blog application around. Everyone uses it and even newbies like it for its simplicity.
Id suggest you try it out.

Blogs are great but to be honest they are really annoying. They have a lot of the same info and get quite boring to read...

I like forums the most, coz it makes me feel like I'm in a live community. When I write a blog, I feel like I'm talking to myself. Even if there are a few comments, it still is a lonely place out there on the blogs.

I think using your own domain and blog script is better than using something like blogger. If your hosting has cpanel and fantastico its pretty easy to install it. I have used wordpress for a while and really like it. Now they have launched wordpress 2.5 which has lot of new features.
